are we finally there yet…

the answer to that question is yes! As of Saturday I arrived in sleepy Laverton where the spinifex grows wild and the sun is blazing down heating up the ground to 40 degrees.

Lets back up a week though…I left Perth on Saturday 31st Jan with tears in my eyes as I farewelled everything and everyone I knew. Excited for the adventure, but also mildly terrified.

The car was packed and the journey was long so, I kept myself entertained by allowing myself to eat a lolly every 10 minutes. Made the last 90 minutes fly by.

The first week in Kalgoorlie was busy with orientation and meeting lots of new graduates, as well as seeing some old friends in town. Also began meal planning for a month worth of meals so that I don’t have to shop that often in Laverton…that was a big task and to squeeze it all in next to my other stuff was a fun game of textris.

Anther hiccup before leaving for Laverton on Saturday occurred when I locked my keys in my car (silly auto lock), so I was stranded until RAC came and saved the day.

Once I got on the road things went smoothly. Below is a photo of the drive to Laverton:

Once I got to Laverton I hauled all my stuff in (including my plants and piano 😉 and made it feel like home. Just in time to head to the lookout and watch the sunset.

God reminded me through the clouds He painted in the sky to always smile…even when things don’t turn out the way you expected them too. Even though its a small town and the accommodation is old (and a little different to my expectations) I am reminded of Gods faithfulness through it all.

I am no poet but a little rhyme came to me when I saw this smiley face in the clouds:

“be still my soul and see,
the King who died for me;
He painted the clouds in the sky
and stretched out His arms to die;
oh, be still my soul and see,
the King is watching over me;
He’s got me in the palm of His hand,
every step apart of His plan.”

Bye for now…
Jos
