at the end of march I headed to Perth for my graduation ceremony. A long trip from Laverton to Perth. Firstly, drove 4hrs to kalgoorlie and then flew to Perth from there.

Always gotta be aware of the cows on the road, even with my prado and a roo bar I think if we came head to head the cow would win!

Many people have helped me to achieve my degree….including my parents, siblings and friends who all supported me and spent time quizzing me on flash cards for exams. Now I finally have that piece of paper!

and made some good friends along the way, including many who are working with WA Country Health Services (WACHS) across this big state.

It wouldn’t be appropriate to leave graduation without a 0.5 shot (that was very Gen Z of me I know ๐

Of course, the next day was Parkrun day and we happened to bump into the Aunty! Humid day for a run, but so good to be with other runners and not slogging out kms on my own.
I was so blessed by my time in Perth and packed a lot into the 5 days. Including seeing many friends and family, playing beach volleyball and enjoying coffee at the best cafe in Perth – 115 Collective (not biased.)
After 5 days it was time to head back to the Goldfields. I caught up with a nursing friend and we made the road trip up to Lake Ballard to spend the night.
The stars were incredible, of course the iPhone 13 does not do it justice. You can kind of make out the milky way in this photo…but it is hard to describe how spectacular the stars were in real life.

The next morning we woke bright and early to watch the sunrise from the top of a little hill in the middle of the salt lake. It was truely incredible.

Of course the famous statutes – 51 of them spread throughout the salt lake. Weirdly eerie but also super cool.

However, the flies did make the whole experience a little less enjoyable haha

Managed to finish a good book before the heat of the day got too much and my friend and I parted ways. Nothing quite like reading in the rooftop tent.
With all the travel under my belt, it was time to head back to Laverton and commence regular life…
